5 ways to work with us

Update 5th June 2021:

We are implementing a 3-stage funnel to make it easier to work with us. Stage 1: Design is a fixed price assignment where we do research to help you gain insights to answer important questions about the project, Stage 2: Prototype is where we start building and iterating and Stage 3: Manufacture is where we work with partners from all over the world to mass produce your products.

All clients starting work with us will start with Stage 1: Design. Find out more about this new way of working.

There are 5 ways of working with us at Meka 3D Printing Pte Ltd. We realise that not all good ideas come out of well-funded startups or MNCs, we want to give the individuals and other organisations a chance to bring their products out into the market.

How we can help you

Meka 3D Printing is a design and engineering firm. We are inventors. We help companies design, prototype and manufacture products. We've worked with startups and MNCs from around the world to bring their ideas to reality. We can help you too.

So why should you hire an outside firm?

Because we bring to bear all our resources to bring your product to fruition. We have in-house expertise and tools, partner expertise and tools and a whole network to tap on to bring your ideas to life. We also have lots of experience bringing client ideas and our own ideas to market and we are happy to help you realise yours too.

You pay us

The most obvious way and the one generally chosen by most people is that they pay us for the work. You start a discussion with us about your idea and what you need done. We then provide you with suggestions and a proposal based on your idea, the process of bringing your idea to life and your budget. While we always try to work within your given budget, this may not always be the case. It usually takes us 2-7 days to start on jobs like this, depending on how fast you need to move.

All intellectual property is owned by the client and respective company.

Equity

For some companies, they are looking for long-term collaborators. We are happy to discuss taking an equity stake in a company to bring their long term vision to reality. We would provide the resources such as expertise and in-house machine time while the client looks after costs in terms of materials and any new equipment needed. This type of project is not available for everyone though. You have to demonstrate a large market and your team's ability to capture that large market. Basically, we are like investors except we won't be giving you much cash, we'll be giving you access to our expertise and resources. It can take us 4-8 weeks to start on these type of jobs as we would need to 1. do our due diligence and 2. get our lawyers involved in signing legal paperwork for equity.

Collaboration or Joint-Ventures

Some ideas have really large markets that require a few collaborators. This is similar to the equity option mentioned above. Only difference is this might be a whole new entity requiring an injection of fresh funds either from the collaborators or from outside investors. Again, these type of projects may take longer to agree on as we would need to 1. do our due diligence and 2. negotiations 3. get our lawyers involved in signing legal paperwork for equity.

We develop - You buy

Some companies and institutions come to us with a problem and we develop the solutions. In this case, we take on the risk to develop solutions for the clients use. After exploring the problem, solutions and developing a product, the client then buys the solution to solve their problem. In most cases, we are happy to develop early designs and prototypes to test and show you some possibilities. At later stages, we expect a commitment in minimum orders.

All intellectual property for such projects are owned by us and we are free to market the products to other companies.

We volunteer

This is only applicable if you are a non-profit or volunteer organisation. We will work with you to develop solutions and products that would make life easier for you and your charges. We are happy to volunteer our time, donate equipment and even purchase materials for you. In this cases, the pay off for us is really just doing something good for our community (but if you have access to press, that works too).

All intellectual property for such projects are owned by us and we are free to market the products to other companies.
